Family Pleas for Stolen Photos of Children to Be Returned

It's hard to miss the sign that says "Have a Heart Please" at the corner of Division and Woodley streets.

Written across a gold heart spray painted on a poster board, the plea from a family asks for their stolen memory cards, which contains photos of their children, to be returned.

A piece of paper attached to the sign says:

On Saturday night September 1st, someone broke in our van parked in our driveway on Birch Lane.

Our Sony CyberShot digital camera (silver), Samsung camcorder (red) and all our memory sticks were stolen.

ALL OUR KIDS' PICTURES WERE STOLEN.

We are not as concerned about the cameras, we just want our kids' pictures.

Deputy Chief of Police Chuck Walerius advises people to lock their vehicles and don't leave valuable items in them. Items usually taken are small electronics, like iPods, tablets and cell phones.

If you believe your car has been broken into or if you see any suspicious activity, Walerius encourages you to contact police.

"This is another reminder to citizens of Northfield that the police department cannot do it alone without the eyes and ears of the whole community," Walerius told Patch following a spree of thefts in June. "Please remember that if you see or hear anything suspicious during the day or night, to call police and report it."
