Danny Urban:Β Nope, not at all. If you look at the statistics crime has become lower in areas that offer the conceal and carry permits. Also people that do have them and commit crimes are in the .01% range if I remember right. When I tool the class they said there were like 176, 000 people in MN that had them. 24 in our class, and Gander Mountain has them 2 or 3 times a month. These classes are 5 hours long. The spend about 3 hours trying to talk you out of getting a permit. The rest is on laws, and making sure the person can actually handle a handgun. Anyone that has a gun should take these classes. They are very informative. While I don't carry my handgun on a daily basis, I do believe everyone has a right to defend themselves. But even if you have a permit, do it responsibly, and when not in use, keep them locked up.

Jeff Ryan:Β Well, since I got my CCP 3 years ago, I have bought 7 guns. Why, it seems the NRA is always fighting teh battle for me to have auto load pistols, AR style, etc, so I will get mine before it becomes an issue. Last I heard Northfield does have a drug problem on their hands....http://minnesota.publicradio.org/display/web/2007/07/04/heroin/Β Not sure about today though.....

Danny Urban:Β Jeff, I am in my last year with NRA. They are getting to be to far to the right for me, and you are right, they are scarring a lot of people. The bottom line is the government will never be able to take away our second amendment rights. At lease until I am dead! Most towns do have drugs available, but I have never heard where there was a problem with guns involved. I too, would like to see an article with the correlation between crime and the increase in gun permits. We were told in my CCP class that crime went down. Before people get all bent out of shape about the CCP's in Northfield, I think they should know that anyone can go to a gun show and purchase a used handgun without a CCP or a purchase permit. In my opinion, those that go through the class and get the permits, are the responsible citizens we need in this country.

Jeff Ryan:Β Danny, I wouldnt say they cant take our right to own a gun away, last I heard they were trying to remove "certain" types of guns via the NATO treaty? I have not researched the facts of it all, but I had seen it on the news. The sad fact of teh matter is that criminals will always be able to get guns, but that responsible gun owners are very very rarely involved in any illegal activity. When i got my CCP, my instructor said that there were something like 40,000 CCP holders and in the 5 or 6 years there was less than 10 reported issues, none of which resulted in a death. I was really hoping for the castle law but the police unions and Dayton shot that one down for us!!!

Lindsey Haley:Β β€Ž100% agree....how about don't kill any wolves....re-home them, build santuaries, we're the ones taking away their homes and we kill them to "protect" our families.....hey, we screwed with their families first......and how do 6000 people get a license when only 400 can be killed? this is a tragedy with our tax dollars

Bill Murphy:Β Great information, as well if you are a Veteran and ever have a question regarding any of these things feel free to contact us at the local Veterans of Foreign Wars and we can help you determine if the organazition is legitamate.
