UPDATED: Buckheit Withdraws from Mayoral Race, Files for At-Large Seat; Ims Files for Mayor

Brian Ims has filed for mayor.

Betsey Buckheit has withdrawn from the Northfield mayoral race and has filed for the at-large race, which will force a primary contest between her and Joe Gasior and David Ludescher.

UPDATED: 12 p.m.

Suzie Nakasian has filed to run for mayor. Nakasian, who is in London, had to file through the U.S. Embassy and made it to Northfield with but five hours to spare.

David Delong has also filed for the Second Ward seat.

The final day of filing for city and county races is upon us and Tuesday morning started with three candidates filing for seats on the .

Frank Balster has filed for the Second Ward seat, which has no other candidates at this time. Balster is the chair of the city's Charter Commission. His term expires Dec. 31, 2013.

Rhondal Pownell, who currently serves as an at-large councilor, has filed for mayor. Her at-large term expires Dec. 31, 2014. She joins and  in the race for mayor.

Former Northfield city councilor Jon Denison has filed for the Third Ward seat. , who currently represents the Third Ward, has already filed for re-election to the seat.

Candidates can file an Affidavit of Candidacy with the city clerk at  801 Washington St.

• , Rhondal Pownell, Suzie Nakasian and Briam Ims have filed for mayor (Buckheit had filed but withdrew)

• Councilor Erica Zweifel  for re-election for her Third Ward seat. Jon Denison has also filed for this seat

• Frank Balster and David Delong have filed for the Second Ward seat

• Joe Gasior, David Ludescher and Betsey Buckheit  for the at-large council seet.

• Commissioner Galen Malecha and  member Jeff Quinnell  for the Rice County District 2 commissioner seat

• Commissioner Jake Gillen and Kathleen Doran-Norton  for the Rice County District 1 commissioner seat
