Heat Advisory Issued for Northfield

What do you plan to do when the temperature soars into the 90s?

Like many summer days in Northfield, sometimes you just need a place to stay cool.

Northfield, along with the rest of Rice County, is under a heat advisory today, according to the Twin Cities National Weather Service.  The heat advisory is in effect from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Temperatures are forecast to hit a high of 96 degrees (heat index values as high as 103) and remain in the high 80s for the rest of the week.

“Hot and humid conditions will develop over central and south central Minnesota an west central Wisconsin on Wednesday. Heat index values will reach 100 to 105 Wednesday afternoon over a part of central and south central Minnesota,” the NWS said on its website. The National Weather Service offers a few precautionary tips on their website to reduce risk during the heat advisory.
