Here's How St. Olaf Will Celebrate MLK Day
Due to the pandemic, in-person events are limited to students, faculty and staff who are permitted to be on campus during Interim.
NORTHFIELD, MN — Martin Luther King Jr.'s birthday is this weekend and will be observed on Monday.
St. Olaf College has events lined up to honor Martin Luther King Jr., however due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the events will only be open to students, faculty and staff approved to be on campus for Interim, the college said.
Here are the events planned by the college to honor MLK:

- Jan. 17 at 10:10 a.m.: Assistant Professor of Religion Timothy Rainey II will lead a virtual Martin Luther King Jr. Day chapel talk. The talk will be streamed and archived online.
- Jan. 17 at 4 p.m.: Those who are approved to be on campus can participate in the MLK Reflection Round Table in Buntrock Commons Sun Room. The conversation will highlight King’s vision and actionable next steps, the college said. Participants must RSVP.
- Jan. 18 at 4 p.m.: There will be a virtual panel discussion featuring St. Olaf alumni who are currently working for equity and inclusion. The panel discussion is in partnership with the Piper Center for Vocation and Career.
