Commissioner Malecha on Tax Levy Increase, John Liebenstein Memorial

Rice County Commissioners on Tuesday set the preliminary 2013 tax levy at a 4.48-percent increase, or $850,000. That would bring the projected tax levy to nearly $20 million.

A preliminary number means commissioners cannot increase the levy when they finalize the number in December. The levy, however, can be finalized at a lower number than what they were set at Tuesday.

Commissioner Galen Malecha also talks about the memorial setup for Rice County Deputy John Liebenstein, who was killed in the line of duty in 1996.
