Motorcycle, SUV Collide; Driver Airlifted
One person was airlifted Monday afternoon after the motorcycle trike he was driving on Highway 3 collided with a Chevy Tahoe.

One person was airlifted Monday afternoon after the motorcycle trike he was driving on Highway 3 collided with a Chevy Tahoe.
Martin J. Burger, 61, of Northfield, was airlifted to Regions Hospital in St. Paul and is in critical condition following the wreck, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
Scott Johnson said the Tahoe was driving northbound on Highway 3 near 320th Street just north of the Northfield city line when it swerved left to avoid a turning vehicle.

The Tahoe, driven by Faribault’s James Rutherford, then collided with the trike, which was driving in the southbound lane, according to the State Patrol. Ruthford wasn’t injured in the wreck.
Johnson said Burger sustained several injuries, but none were confirmed at this time.

Burger’s 1988 Honda trike was totaled, while the Tahoe was severely damaged.
Johnson said traffic was diverted as emergency officials worked the scene.
No alcohol was detected on Rutherford, who was wearing his seat belt. Burger was wearing a helmet.
