Northfield Area Ambulance Association Could Disband

The city of Northfield would receive half of the association's remaining assets.

The Northfield Area Ambulance Association (NAAA) may be disbanding. The association was created as a partnership between more than a dozen local cities and townships to fund Northfield's privately owned ambulance.

“The trigger was when the City of Northfield declined to pay its dues before certain information was provided,” said Kathleen McBride, the city’s finance director and member of the work group, according to the Northfield News. “The work group is going to recommend to the board in May that the formal association go away and that it be replaced with some less formal group.”

Northfield withheld its 2012 dues of $20,007 because the city said it had insufficient information on the group’s current mission, the paper reported.

If the association is disbanded, its assets will be split among partnering cities, with half going to Northfield.

A work group will meet again on April 23 to discuss disbanding the NAAA.
