Northfield DMV to Relocate for Renovations

The DMV will be operating out of the conference room by the administrative offices, near the finance department for a couple weeks.

Northfield's Department of Motor Vehicles is scheduled to relocate next week, as well as be closed a couple afternoons, as renovation work continues at city hall.

The department will make the move to the conference room by the administrative offices (North Washington), near the finance department, Friday, Nov. 8 and is expected to remain there until Nov. 20.

Customers will be able to renew tabs and perform other transactions with the exception of driver’s license renewals, the city said in a news release.

The following is the timeline for the relocation:

Nov. 7: Begin disassembling cubes and moving all furniture out. One person will to continue to help customers in the motor vehicle office at this time, everyone else will help move. The street department is helping with the heavy lifting.

Nov. 8: The office will continue to operate in the morning. In the afternoon the office will shut down so IT can move equipment and the camera can be removed.

Nov. 12-20: The department will be operating out of the conference room for everything except driver’s license renewals. The city hopes to be moving items back to the DMV on Monday, Nov. 18.

November 19: In the afternon, the DMV will be closed so staff can get the computers and cameras back up and running.
