Northfield Hospital & Clinics CEO Has Emergency Surgery

Mark Henke was recently diagnosed with cancer of the kidney.

President and CEO Mark Henke is in serious but stable condition at Abbott Northwestern Hospital following emergency surgery Saturday morning.

Mark was recently diagnosed with cancer of the kidney. He has been undergoing tests to determine his treatment. On Friday evening, Aug. 3, he collapsed at home and was taken to Abbott Northwestern Hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery early Saturday morning to remove a blockage in his lung. A piece of the tumor had broken off and partially blocked the blood flow to his lungs.

At this time, Mark is still in intensive care and is facing further surgery. The length of his convalescence is not known.
