Northfield Launches Online Community Event Calendar

NORTHFIELD, MN — The city of Northfield announced that it has launched a free online community event calendar for residents.

Organizations can submit events for the calendar, the city said.

Google Translate allows the posts on the calendar to be translated into several languages, according to the city.

Events allowed on the calendar include:

  • Sporting events
  • School or community fundraisers
  • Citywide garage sales
  • Live entertainment
  • Drink or food specials
  • Walkathons
  • Festivals
  • Races
  • Bicycle events
  • Public celebrations
  • And more

Private events such as weddings, funerals or family reunions shouldn't be posted, the city said.

"The community calendar is powered by Localist, which offers the efficiency of a centralized marketing calendar, the power of social sharing tools, and the intelligence of analytics to optimize event marketing performance," the city of Northfield noted.
