Northfield Man’s Death in Vehicle Fire Ruled Suicide

The found in a burning van last month at the intersection of 150th St. W. and Acorn Trail in Cannon City Township has been ruled a suicide by self-immolation, according to a news release from the Rice County Sheriff's Office.

The man, , 45, of Northfield, was identified through dental records by the Minnesota Regional Medical Examiner's Office. The ruling follows an investigation by the Sheriff's Office, Minnesota State Fire Marshal's Office, the Minnesota Regional Medical Examiner's Office and the Rice County Coroner's Office.

The Sheriff's Office and Faribault Fire Department responded to the vehicle fire call around 5:20 a.m. July 15.
