Northfield Teacher Nominated For 'MN Teacher Of The Year'

Heather Olivier​, along with the 76 other nominees, is eligible to become the state's 58th Teacher of the Year.

NORTHFIELD, MN — A teacher from Northfield Public Schools has been nominated to be Minnesota Teacher of the Year, according to a news release from Education Minnesota.

Heather Olivier, along with the 76 other nominees, has accepted her nomination and completed additional materials to be eligible for the honor, Education Minnesota said.

An independent panel will narrow the list down to a group of semi-finalists in the coming weeks, the news release said. The list will then be narrowed down again and finalists will be announced in March, according to Education Minnesota.

The Minnesota Teacher of the Year banquet is scheduled for May 1 at the Saint Paul RiverCentre, but could be postponed due to COVID-19, the news release said.

The nominees are all teachers in Pre-K through Grade 12, Early Childhood Family Education and Adult Basic Education, Education Minnesota said.
