Seven Northfielders Competing in Boston Marathon
Every Northfield participant in the Boston Marathon is 43 or older.

It's that special time of year when thousands of friends, family and strangers come together to run the streets of Boston in the name of determination, perseverance and, above all, crossing the finish line after 26.2 miles.
Among those in the 2012 Boston Marathon are six men and one woman who call Northfield home.

- Elizabeth Leer, 43
- Todd Orjala, 47
- Noboru Tomonari, 49
- Joseph Winegardner, 56
All seven are in the second wave of runners.
According to our sister site, , runners scheduled to run the Boston Marathon on Monday are advised to do so with caution. Because of the expected high temperatures of nearly 90 degrees on Monday, the Boston Athletic Association issued an email statement on Saturday that offered a deferment to any official runner who would like to postpone his or her participation until 2013.
