St. Olaf Hosts Homecoming And Family Weekend

NORTHFIELD, MN — St. Olaf College is hosting its annual Homecoming and Family Weekend, meaning a wealth of cultural events and fun for Northfield residents.

Throughout the weekend, the college’s Flaten Art Museum and Groot Gallery is hosting an exhibition called “Altered Skyline: Brenda Berkman’s Thirty-Six Views of One World Trade Center” that presents 36 chronological lithographs of the gradual construction of the new skyscraper from different vantage points around the New York City area.

At the Center for Art and Dance, the Transfer of Memory exhibition presents color photography and narrative accounts of Holocaust survivors who live in Minnesota. Transfer of Memory is presented in collaboration with the Jewish Community Relations Council of Minnesota and the Dakotas.

Until Saturday at 4 p.m., visitors can download GooseChase, a virtual scavenger hunt app, to discover new parts of the St. Olaf campus.

Saturday will offer a number of homecoming related activities, including the Homecoming 5K Ole Walk/Run race, a football game against Carleton College at 1 p.m., a picnic at Klein Field, and numerous tours of campus facilities.

Sunday will feature a continental breakfast, Holy Communion service by the Chapel Choir and St. Olaf Handbell Choir, a brunch, and a concert featuring Manitou Singers, Norseman Band, Philharmonia, and Viking Chorus.
