Tornado Warning for Dakota County Expires; Now Under Tornado Watch

The tornado warning has expired, but the weather service has issued a tornado watch until 9 p.m.

A tornado warning issued at 1:44 p.m. for Dakota County has expired, but the National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch for all of Dakota County until 9 p.m., which includes the northern part of Northfield.

According to the NWS, there are enough ingredients in place—humidity and spin in the atmosphere—for a few possible tornadoes.

At 1:44 p.m., doppler radar indicated a storm near Cannon Falls that was capable of producing a tornado. The storm is moving northwest at 35 mph. There have been no reported touch downs.
