Woodbury Leadership Academy (WLA) is a tuition-free, K-12 public charter school where high expectations and success matter to all! Our learning environment and school community promotes academic achievement for students in grades K-12, as well as personal integrity, equity and a dedication to value and serve others. Our school is committed to our students’ long term success. We use inquiry based learning by teaching the Core Knowledge Curriculum — building strong skills in math, reading, writing, history, science and technology. We also have a strong character education program to ensure students develop exceptional leadership skills. The character education program includes service learning projects and a focus of five core virtues - respect, responsibility, perseverance, gratitude and humanity. WLA uses the rigorous and classical Core Knowledge Curriculum to build strong foundational knowledge across subjects, promoting academic excellence and equity. By ensuring all students share common knowledge, we can narrow achievement gaps and build critical thinking and long-term success. WLA is a public school with a private school feeling. WLA students wear school uniforms to promote equality, reduce peer pressure, and minimize distractions. Small class sizes at WLA allow for teachers and staff to provide personalized instruction, build strong relationships, and increase student engagement. OAKDALE, MN — An 18-year-old man from Lake Elmo died in a fiery two-car crash in Oakdale early Saturday morning. The crash happened just before 3:50 a.m. on Saturday at 50th Street North and Hadley Avenue North. Police responded to the scene on a report of a fire, and one of the cars was "fully engulfed" in flames. The Lake Elmo driver was pronounced dead. The other driver, a 38-year-old from Oakdale, was taken to Regions Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.The Oakdale Police Department and the Minnesota State Patrol are investigating.
