Woodbury Leadership Academy (WLA) is a tuition-free, K-12 public charter school where high expectations and success matter to all! Our learning environment and school community promotes academic achievement for students in grades K-12, as well as personal integrity, equity and a dedication to value and serve others. We use inquiry based learning by teaching the Core Knowledge Curriculum — building strong skills in math, reading, writing, history, science and technology. We also have a strong character education program to ensure students develop exceptional leadership skills. A 2,000-pound bull that had been "running freely" since Tuesday night was <a href="http://www.startribune.com/local/east/225192212.html" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">shot and killed by authorities</a> Wednesday morning.The bull had been running back and forth across Manning Avenue, in and out of cornfields, when it caused a crash near Hudson Road, according to <a href="https://woodbury.patch.com/listings/public-safety-department">Woodbury officer</a> Scott Melander, who was at the scene at about 9:30 a.m. Wednesday. A sheriff's deputy also nearly hit the animal, he said.The owner of the bull requested help in dispatching the animal. Tranquilizers hadn't worked to slow the bull down, Melander said.The bull had approximately one-foot horns, he said. "He was probably more dangerous than a bear in that situation," Sheriff's Sgt. Thomas Stafford <a href="http://www.startribune.com/local/east/225192212.html" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">told the Star Tribune</a>. "A bear's first objective is to get away from human beings. That bull is a domestic animal, and that's not his disposition." The Pioneer Press reported the bull escaped from a trailer.
