Woodbury Leadership Academy (WLA) is a tuition-free, K-12 public charter school where high expectations and success matter to all! Our learning environment and school community promotes academic achievement for students in grades K-12, as well as personal integrity, equity and a dedication to value and serve others. Our school is committed to our students’ long term success. We use inquiry based learning by teaching the Core Knowledge Curriculum — building strong skills in math, reading, writing, history, science and technology. We also have a strong character education program to ensure students develop exceptional leadership skills. The character education program includes service learning projects and a focus of five core virtues - respect, responsibility, perseverance, gratitude and humanity. WLA uses the rigorous and classical Core Knowledge Curriculum to build strong foundational knowledge across subjects, promoting academic excellence and equity. By ensuring all students share common knowledge, we can narrow achievement gaps and build critical thinking and long-term success. The academic rigor at WLA prepares students for college and ready to lead. We out-perform the MCA Minnesota State average in all categories! Check out our report card. WLA is a public school with a private school feeling. WLA students wear school uniforms to promote equality, reduce peer pressure, and minimize distractions. Small class sizes at WLA allow for teachers and staff to provide personalized instruction, build strong relationships, and increase student engagement. The North St. Paul-Maplewood-Oakdale Community Education Advisory Council each year honors individuals and groups with its Excellence in Community Education Leadership (EXCEL) Awards. The council is inviting people to make a nomination recognizing someone in any of the following categories: <ul> <li>Community Contribution Award</li> <li>Lifelong Learner Award</li> <li>Community Educator Award</li> <li>Community Educator Youth Award</li> <li>Senior Friend Award</li> </ul> Nominations must be received by April 1. They should be sent to: EXCEL Awards, ISD 622 Community Education, 2520 E. 12th Avenue, North St. Paul, MN 55109. Winners will be selected and notified in April and will be honored on April 23 at both the Community Education Advisory Council meeting and the School Board meeting.
