Woodbury Leadership Academy

Woodbury Leadership Academy (WLA) is a tuition-free, K-12 public charter school where high expectations and success matter to all! Our learning environment and school community promotes academic achievement for students in grades K-12, as well as personal integrity, equity and a dedication to value and serve others. Our school is committed to our students’ long term success. We use inquiry based learning by teaching the Core Knowledge Curriculum — building strong skills in math, reading, writing, history, science and technology. We also have a strong character education program to ensure students develop exceptional leadership skills. The character education program includes service learning projects and a focus of five core virtues - respect, responsibility, perseverance, gratitude and humanity. WLA uses the rigorous and classical Core Knowledge Curriculum to build strong foundational knowledge across subjects, promoting academic excellence and equity. By ensuring all students share common knowledge, we can narrow achievement gaps and build critical thinking and long-term success. The academic rigor at WLA prepares students for college and ready to lead. We out-perform the MCA Minnesota State average in all categories! Check out our report card. WLA is a public school with a private school feeling. WLA students wear school uniforms to promote equality, reduce peer pressure, and minimize distractions. Small class sizes at WLA allow for teachers and staff to provide personalized instruction, build strong relationships, and increase student engagement. With a 22:1 average student/teacher ratio, we are able to give every student what they need to learn and thrive. Call to learn more. The enrollment lottery closes January 31st of each year. Hello Oakdale!  You sure know how to give a warm welcome.  My first official introduction to the community was during the Summerfest Parade — which was also my first day on the job at Oakdale Patch. I thoroughly enjoyed introducing Patch to people and seeing the enthusiasm of current readers. Some of you might have also seen me at the Patch booth at Summerfest this weekend.  First off, I cannot begin to tell you how excited I am to be covering Oakdale. I grew up in Stillwater, so I've visited Oakdale on several occassions. Check out my bio for some tidbits .  While I'm pretty familiar with Oakdale, I still have plenty to learn.
