Woodbury Leadership Academy (WLA) is a tuition-free, K-12 public charter school where high expectations and success matter to all! Our learning environment and school community promotes academic achievement for students in grades K-12, as well as personal integrity, equity and a dedication to value and serve others. Our school is committed to our students’ long term success. We use inquiry based learning by teaching the Core Knowledge Curriculum — building strong skills in math, reading, writing, history, science and technology. We also have a strong character education program to ensure students develop exceptional leadership skills. The character education program includes service learning projects and a focus of five core virtues - respect, responsibility, perseverance, gratitude and humanity. WLA uses the rigorous and classical Core Knowledge Curriculum to build strong foundational knowledge across subjects, promoting academic excellence and equity. The Oakdale Fire Department is investigating the source of an attic fire that occurred early Sunday morning. The was called to a single-family home on the 600 block of Goodview Avenue around 1:20 a.m. Sunday. Smoke and flames were visible from the house's roof when firefighters arrived, said Fire Chief Jeff Anderson. Fire crews pulled some of the building's ceiling down and were able to extinguish the fire within five minutes. The fire was confined to the attic in the rear portion of the house, Anderson said. No one was home during the incident. A neighbor notified the fire department about the fire. The home received some smoke and water damage. While the source of the fire is under investigation, Anderson said the fire did not look suspicious. It was most likely an electrical fire.
