‘Footloose,’ Art Show, Guardian Angels Event: Today in Oakdale
A daily look around the community from Oakdale Patch.

Here are five items to take note of today in Oakdale.
Footloose
Tartan Theatre will present Footloose, the stage adaptation of the 1984 film of the same name, from Oct. 25 through Nov. 3.
“This is a show that will not only get you to kick off your Sunday shoes, but will knock your socks off too,” reads a release from District 622 about the upcoming shows.

Performances are set for: 7 p.m. on Oct. 25-26 and Nov. 1-2; and 2 p.m. on Oct. 27 and Nov. 3.
Tickets for Footloose are on sale now at the Tartan Theatre Box Office.

Tickets cost $10 for adults, $8 for senior citizens and $6 for students.
Also, there will be a dinner theatre performance (dinner served beforehand) on Nov. 2. Tickets cost $25 for adults, $23 for senior citizens and $16 for students. Dinner will be catered by Tinucci’s.
The Nature of Art
This weekend marks the first-ever art fair at the Oakdale Discovery Center.
It’s set for Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 12-13; 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 1-4 p.m. Sunday.
Admission is free, but people will be able to purchase art from a wide range of mediums, including:
- jewelry
- paintings
- drawings
- digital prints
- pottery
- photography
- woodwork
- fiber art
A number of the participating artists have had their work shown at the Discovery Center over the past five years, along with others whose work will be on display in Oakdale for the first time at the art fair.
The event will also feature “Kid’s Korner,” an introduction of art through children’s activities.
Buckthorn
The final curbside pickup of buckthorn will be Oct. 15.
To be added to the pick-up schedule, submit a completed form (print at www.ci.oakdale.us.mn) to Oakdale Public Works (1900 Hadley Ave.) by Oct. 11.
Raspberry Chipotle Chicken Wings

With tailgate parties going on, I find this the perfect time to introduce Raspberry Chipotle Chicken Wings! These wings are the perfect blend of sweet and a little spicy but together they bring such huge taste, these are sure to become a family favorite! They are very addictive for sure!
