Mayo Spray, Bowling Break, Lure Larceny: Oakdale Police Blotter

Selected calls to the Oakdale Police Department from March 28 through April 4.

The following information was obtained from recent police reports.

March 28

A woman came to the police department after she received more than 50 phone calls from a man. An officer contacted the man and told him not to call her again or he would be charged with harassing communications.

Police were investigating after a woman tried to cash a stolen check for $1,000 at Novation Credit Union. The woman left behind fraudulent identification.

A driver who left the scene of a two-vehicle crash at 10th Street and Interstate 694 was later found in Woodbury, apparently intoxicated, and booked pending formal charges.

March 29

A resident called police about a safe that had been pried open sitting in the alley behind the Corner Store.

A resident reported that someone scratched the word “ass” on the door of his car while it was parked at Baja Sol.

A resident at the 6400 block of 55th Street called police after a man dressed in all black approached the home but ran when she went to the door. Officers checked the area but were unable to find anyone.

There was a report of a man who forced his way into a unit at an apartment building at the 6100 block of Geneva Avenue and stole $80 from a coffee tin on the living room table. A woman and her son were home at the time.

There was a report of vehicles racing along Gershwin Avenue but the cars were gone by the time police arrived.

March 30

The Oakdale Fire Department put out a car fire at the 2200 block of Grospoint Avenue. A mail carrier reported the fire.

Police spoke to a woman’s 10-year-old son, who had been calling her names, about respect.

A car parked at Marcus Theater had its window broken and several items stolen from it.

April 1

Police were called to an apartment building at the 4100 block of Geneva Avenue about the smell of marijuana coming from one unit but couldn’t find the source.

An argument at Subway between two women—one a customer and another a worker—broke out over a boyfriend. The employee sprayed the other woman with mayonnaise after being called a name. Neither wanted to press charges.

Police gave a man a ride after his car broke down along Highway 5 and advised him that hitchhiking was illegal.

Several items were reported stolen from a car parked at the 6500 block of Second Street.

A man was cited for misdemeanor theft after shoplifting $88 worth of fishing lures from Mills Fleet Farm.

A resident at the 6200 block of 40th Street reported that $1,700 worth of items had been stolen from her garage.

April 2

Police stopped a group of people at Tanners Lake Park after hours and found one had a warrant out for her arrest. She was taken into custody.

A resident at the 3800 block of Granada Lane reported that her car, while parked in the driveway, had its windshield smashed.

A resident at the 7400 block of 44th Street reported that her engagement ring had been stolen from the home. Her adult son and girlfriend are living at the house and sometimes have friends visit them.

Stereo equipment was reported stolen from a car parked at Tartan High School.

There were several reports of people shoplifting fishing lures at Mills Fleet Farm.

April 3

An officer noticed a car stopped for an extended period of time at the 900 block of Inwood Avenue. The driver was booked on suspicion of DWI.

An employee at Smokedale called police after he believed someone paid using a counterfeit $5 bill. An officer checked the bill but it appeared to be legitimate.

After responding to a call about an argument in a parking lot at the 6100 block of 40th Street North, police took one man into custody after learning he had warrants out for his arrest in Ramsey County.

Someone broke a sprinkler head at Northstar Storage, and water was spraying from it. The Oakdale Fire Department turned off the water.

April 4

Two residents at the 6700 block of 10th Street Court North called police after someone cut and stole copper piping from the homes.

A babysitter who got lost after getting off at the wrong bus stop was given a ride to the right home.

A resident at the 1900 block of Helena Road called police after someone moved a portable basketball hoop from the driveway to the street.

A caller told police a naked woman got out of a van parked at Demori’s. She was arguing with a man. They then got back into the vehicle and left.

An employee at Pinz was fired for sleeping in the bathroom. Police were called because the man was sleeping in his car. He told officers he was tired and didn’t want to drive home at the time.

A resident found a pair of women’s pants and underwear on the ground at the 3700 block of Granada Avenue.

Someone threw a baseball bat and broke the windshield of a vehicle parked at the 1200 block of Gentry Avenue.
