Tartan Crossing Dedication Kicks Off Redevelopment
Redevelopment of the recently dedicated Tartan Crossing project will begin July 9.

The city is moving into the next phase of the Tartan Crossing project.
City officials and staff along with state legislators dedicated the Tartan Crossing project Tuesday, paving the way for the next steps of the project. Beginning July 9, the city will be constructing a road to connect the site to Hadley Avenue and 10th Street as well as adding a storm water system and new traffic signal light. The work should wrap up this fall.
Tartan Crossing is replacing the old Oakdale Mall, which was . Eventually Tartan Crossing will become a mixed-use development consisting of commercial services and retail, medical officers and senior housing, said Community Development Director Bob Streetar.

"The city's function is acquiring the site and putting in the infrastructure and the developer's job is to find the users," Streetar said.
Wellington Management Inc. is currently working on securing purchase agreements with potential businesses and organizations to fill the site, but the potential users are not public yet, Streetar said.

Streetar added that it will be a couple of years before the whole project is built.
