Woodbury Leadership Academy (WLA) is a tuition-free, K-12 public charter school where high expectations and success matter to all! Our learning environment and school community promotes academic achievement for students in grades K-12, as well as personal integrity, equity and a dedication to value and serve others. Our school is committed to our students’ long term success. We use inquiry based learning by teaching the Core Knowledge Curriculum — building strong skills in math, reading, writing, history, science and technology. We also have a strong character education program to ensure students develop exceptional leadership skills. The character education program includes service learning projects and a focus of five core virtues - respect, responsibility, perseverance, gratitude and humanity. WLA uses the rigorous and classical Core Knowledge Curriculum to build strong foundational knowledge across subjects, promoting academic excellence and equity. By ensuring all students share common knowledge, we can narrow achievement gaps and build critical thinking and long-term success. The academic rigor at WLA prepares students for college and ready to lead. We out-perform the MCA Minnesota State average in all categories! Check out our report card. WLA is a public school with a private school feeling. WLA students wear school uniforms to promote equality, reduce peer pressure, and minimize distractions. Small class sizes at WLA allow for teachers and staff to provide personalized instruction, build strong relationships, and increase student engagement. The Tartan High School theater program will present <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peter_Pan_%28musical%29" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Peter Pan</a> the musical next month. Performances will be held in the Tartan High School auditorium, 828 Greenway Ave. N., in Oakdale. Residents are encouraged to "check out the high-flying action and adventure" during several upcoming shows: <ul> <li>April 12, 7 p.m.</li> <li>April 13, 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.</li> <li>April 14, 2 p.m.</li> <li>April 18, 7 p.m.</li> <li>April 19, 7 p.m.</li> <li>April 20, 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.</li> <li>April 21, 2 p.m. </li> </ul> Also, there will be a dinner theater performance at 5 p.m. on April 19, catered by <a href="http://www.tinuccis.com/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Tinucci's</a>. Tickets for that show cost $25 for adults, $23 for senior citizens and $16 for students. For the other shows, tickets cost $10 for adults, $8 for senior citizens and $6 for students. Tickets can be purchased <a href="http://www.tartantheatre.org" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">online at the Tartan Theatre website</a> or at the box office, one hour before each performance. Doors open 30 minutes prior to show time. All seating is reserved.
