Veterans Memorial Construction Begins Today
The city started work on the new Veterans Memorial Wednesday morning. The project should be complete by Veterans Day in November.
Construction on the new Veterans Memorial is finally underway.
The pieces are falling into place. The city's Public Works Department broke ground Wednesday morning. City workers began the rough grading to locate the utilities. Once the rough grading is complete then they will begin the footing for the memorial's walls.
The city has also received the momuments for the memorial, which will feature etchings of the different divisions of service. The monument's engraving should be complete by mid-August.

The final project will be a 4 to 5-foot wall with three granite plaques and shrubbery that will sit adjacent to . The whole project will cost $52,000, with $40,000 .
More recently, the Oakdale Veteran's Memorial Committee also finished up a motorcycle raffle event that raised nearly $6,000 to go toward the project.

The committee is also selling paver bricks for $75 to honor anyone who has served in the military. Those interested in honoring someone in the military can pick up an order form at City Hall.
