Water Slide, Fun Run, Soccer Clinic: Today in Oakdale

Here are five items to take note of in Oakdale today.

Water Slide

There are two more days left this year for the giant slip and slide at Tower Park, and this Friday is one of them.

The Oakdale Parks and Recreation Department plans to set it up again from 1-3:30 p.m. on July 26 and Aug. 9

Tower Park is located at Eighth Street Lane North and Eighth Street North, near 10th Street and Hadley Avenue.

Live Music

Following this Wednesday’s Farmers Market, there will be two concerts at the Walton Park band shell.

Zinghoppers (kids music) will perform from 5:15-6 p.m., and 7 Cat Swing (jazz) will play from 7-8:30 p.m.

The concerts are free.

Fun Run

District 622 recently announced that there is still time to register for this year’s Fun Run.

β€œThis event is a fun way to support the students in our School District,” 622 Education Foundation member Doug Ronsberg said in a release. β€œProceeds from the run will support the Foundation’s Angel Fund program, which serves students in need; as well as our innovative teaching grants.”

The family-friendly event is set for Saturday, July 27, in the Polar Arena parking lot, 2416 East 11th Ave., in North St. Paul.

The 5K will start at 9 a.m., with a free Kid Run at 10 a.m. and a free Toddler Trot at 10:15 a.m. Registration will be open from 8-8:45 a.m. on the day of the race.

The 5K registration fee is $25 for adults and $20 for ages 16 and under. Family registrations can be printed off from the Foundation’s website at www.622educationfoundation.com, and mailed in.

Registration is now available online at http://622funrun.eventbrite.com.

Youth Soccer Clinic

Oakdale youngsters can learn the fundamentals of soccer during the annual Tartan Titan Youth Soccer Clinic.

Hosted by both the girls and boys soccer teams at Tartan, the clinic is designed to be a fun way to help young players improve their skills

The clinic will be held from Monday, Aug. 5 through Thursday, Aug. 8 at the Tartan High School athletic fields. Two sessions will be offered.

Session I, 5:30-7 p.m., is for students in grades K-2; and Session 2, 7-8:30 p.m., is for students in grades 3-8.

Ages are based on the grade students will be entering for the 2013-14 school year and students in Session 2 will be separated into two age divisions.
