Gonyea Homes is 2012 Builder of the Year

Gonyea Homes and Remodeling was named 2012 Builder of the Year by the Builders Association of the Twin Cities (BATC).
In Plymouth, the company has homes and lots for sale in Hampton Hills, Spring Meadows, Taylor Creek and Terra Vista. Lot prices start at $130,000. Currently, Gonyea has eight homes for sale priced from $552,000 to $1,150,000. Homes at 5430 Shenandoah Lane N and 5415 Comstock Lane N are good examples of Gonyea Homes’ quality and attention to detail.

Gonyea managing partner Tony Sonnen says that Gonyea has already sold twice as many homes this year than in 2011, and he expects that 2013 will also be a great year for new home sales. 

“This is a business where it’s easy to cut corners,” Sonnen said. “This award means a lot because it recognizes we produce a high-value product that will stand the test of time.”

The annual award honors members that exhibit outstanding business practices and high levels of integrity. Each year, in a blind survey, members evaluate builders based on a variety of criteria, including trust, communication, loyalty and ethics. The company with the highest scores is named Builder of the Year. Gonyea was presented with the award on Oct. 13 at BATC’s annual Awards of Excellence Gala.

Since 2009, Gonyea’s sales of new homes have grown by more than 400 percent, despite the difficult housing market. The company recently added remodeling and land development divisions. 

“We consistently see Gonyea make choices that will benefit their buyers down the road,” says Pat Hegseth, sales manager of Great Plains Millwork, which makes windows, doors and trim. “Gonyea thinks long-term and their choices result in higher levels of long-term buyer satisfaction.” 

In business since 1987, Gonyea Homes has built a solid reputation among Twin Cities’ custom home builders. Gonyea builds in neighborhoods all across the Twin Cities. Named 2012 Twin Cities Builder of the Year, Gonyea has also received multiple  Reggie Awards of Excellence and other awards from the Twin Cities building community.
