He will be honored for his accomplishments during the national recognition weekend, held June 16-19 in Washington, D.C. Ibeling was also offered the opportunity to invite his most inspiring and challenging teacher to the annual ceremony where they are honored with a Teacher Recognition Award from the U.S. Department of Education. Ibeling chose WHS vision 21 instructor Sue Iverson for this recognition.
During this trip, Presidential Scholars are guests of the commission and enjoy an expense-paid trip to meet with government officials, educators, authors, musicians, scientists and other accomplished people. Scholars have the opportunity to visit museums and monuments and to attend recitals, receptions and ceremonies. To commemorate their achievement, the scholars are awarded the Presidential Scholars medallion at a ceremony sponsored by the White House.
