Association Free Lutheran Bible College Expansion Moves on to Plymouth City Council

The Plymouth Planning Commission recommended a PUD amendment to allow revisions the original general plan.

Due to current and future growth, Association Free Lutheran Bible College in Plymouth is looking to expand.

The organization came before the Plymouth Planning Commission Feb. 20 to request a PUD amendment “to allow revisions to the approved PUD general plan,” according to commission documents.

If approved at a future Plymouth City Council meeting, the PUD amendment would allow Association Free Lutheran Bible College the opportunity in the future to:

  • Increase the size of the planned gymnasium/music industry building from 30,100 square feet to 38,950 square feet. The space would primarily add basement storage and locker rooms. The height of the building would not change.
  • Increase the future dormitory size from 19,300 square feet to 25,000 square feet. The addition would be a two-story space over the commons area connecting the two halves of each two-story dormitory building.
  • Add an additional 32 parking spaces.

An Association Free Lutheran Bible College representative told the Plymouth Planning Commission the construction for the gymnasium/music industry building expansion would likely be in the next year. A construction date for the dormitory size has not yet been determined.

Commissioners praised the plan, adding one stating he was glad Association Free Lutheran Bible College was “planning for the future.”

The Plymouth City Council is scheduled to hear the PUD amendment request at the March 12, 2013 regular meeting.
