I grew up in North Minneapolis, graduate of Minneapolis North High. I was on the planning commission in Golden Valley for 12 years (7 as chair) before being appointed to City Council. I worked to help create the GV downtown area, advocated for the Luce line trail and have worked to keep our budget flat. My service on The West Broadway Business and Area Coalition since 2003 (past chair) keeps me in touch with the issues facing North Minneapolis. I serve on the Northwest Hennepin Human Services Council (past chair). This organization provides research and coordination of social services in Suburban Hennepin County. I am an avid gardener, bicyclist and reader. I have a proven record of non-partisan leadership and I am grounded in community work. I am endorsed by Womenwinning and the Hennepin County Sheriff's Deputies Association. As Commissioner I will be a strong advocate for the diverse needs of this district. I will make decisions on funding that will show value for dollars spent and will make health and safety two of my top priority areas.
