Plymouth Man Charged For Threatening Woman With Knife

A Plymouth man has been charged with threatening to kill a woman and brandishing a knife at her late last week, just days after he pleaded guilty and was sentenced on a charge of disorderly conduct.

Nicholas Jay Fink, 22, is charged with making terroristic threats, a felony with a maximum penalty of five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

Fink remains in the Hennepin County Jail on a $30,000 bond. He is scheduled to make a first appearance on the charge today, June 26, in Hennepin County District Court.

According to the criminal complaint signed by Plymouth Police Investigator Molly Lynch, on June 22 police were called to an apartment in the 17600 block of 19th Avenue on a report of a domestic disturbance.

The victim told police that Fink was very upset with her and was threatening to kill her, according to the complaint.

When police arrived, they could hear a woman crying inside the apartment. They knocked on the door and the victim let them in.

The victim led officers into the living room, and as she entered the room, she screamed when she saw Fink holding a knife over his shoulder with the blade horizontal to the ground, “as if he were going to use it,” according to Lynch’s account.

Police drew their guns and ordered Fink to drop the knife. When he let go of the weapon, he was arrested, the complaint says.

The victim told police several times that Fink had threatened to kill her two or three times before they arrived.

Fink pleaded guilty June 18 to a misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct, with a related misdemeanor charge of fifth-degree assault dropped as part of a plea agreement. He was sentenced to 90 days in jail, stayed for a year as long as he remained law-abiding.
