Richfield Police Remind Residents to Lock Their Doors in Wake of Crime Spike
A recent crime spree in southeast Richfield sparked the alert.

Richfield police issued an alert on Thursday after a string of vehicle break-ins on the southeast side of the city.
There have been six such incidents within the past week, they said. Specific blocks were not identified, but officers are reminding all residents to take the following precautions:
- Lock your vehicle.
- Do not leave valuables in your vehicle. That includes: Laptops, GPS, briefcases, cash or change, sunglasses, cell phones, or gym bags. All are tempting to a thief.
- Do not leave keys inside your vehicle.
- Close and lock your garage, or park as close to your home or apartment building as possible.
- Report suspicious activity while it is happening. This could save you or someone else from being victimized. Call 911 and stay on the line if you see or hear something that seems unusual or suspicious. Try to get a description of the suspects and their vehicle, but do not confront suspects.
