Man Taken Into Custody After Reports Of Body Being Dragged From Apartment: Richfield PD

Police said callers reported a man dragging a body from an apartment before a brief pursuit ended at Southdale Hospital.

RICHFIELD, MN — A 23-year-old woman was killed early Saturday after Richfield police responded to reports of a man dragging a body from an apartment and loading it into a vehicle, according to authorities.

The Richfield Police Department said officers were dispatched around 3:12 a.m. on Dec. 13 to the 7600 block of Knox Avenue South after multiple emergency calls from residents. Callers reported a male dragging a dead body out of an apartment and placing it into a vehicle.

An officer in the area spotted the vehicle leaving and attempted to initiate a traffic stop. Police said the vehicle did not stop, and a brief pursuit followed.

The vehicle ultimately stopped at the emergency room entrance of M Health Fairview Southdale Hospital in Edina. An adult male driver exited the vehicle, and officers found an unconscious adult female in the back seat suffering from a gunshot wound.

Despite lifesaving efforts, the woman was pronounced dead. Police identified the victim as a 23-year-old female. The adult male driver was taken into custody.
