1. A mix of sun and possibly rain are in the forecast today. Look for the morning to be sunny with a chance of showers developing in the afternoon, then clearing by about 9 p.m. Today’s high is expected to hit 86 degrees with an overnight low of 69.

2. The Men In Black a’cappella vocals is the featured entertainment tonight for Rosevlle’s summer concert. The show begins at 7:30 p.m. at  Central Park’s Frank Rog Amphitheatre.

3. On this date in 1871, lumbermen from Stillwater descend  the St. Croix River “at dawn to remove pilings placed in the river to support a railroad bridge at Hudson, Wisconsin.,” according to the Minnesota Historical Society “Lumber interests in Stillwater had obtained a court injunction requiring a 200-foot clearance between the pilings to allow timber rafts to float through, but the order had been ignored. The lumberjacks returned to Stillwater with about 100 pilings, and the event became known as the "Battle of the Piles."

4. The Roseville City Council is expected to hold a closed-door meeting at 6 p.m. to evaluate the performance of City Manager Bill Malinen. The meeting is scheduled to take place in the Aspen Room of City Hall, 2660 Center Drive. The Council is expected to close the meeting, under state statutes, as a personnel matter.
