Affinity Credit Union Planning New Roseville Office

Planning Commission recommends conditional use for drive-through.

Affinity Plus Federal Credit Union has plans to build a 20,000 square-foot office building in Roseville.

Construction of the proposed two-story office and financial institution building at 2750 Snelling Ave. could begin this fall or next spring, an Affinity official said Wednesday.  No cost estimate was given.

The new facility would be located on the site formerly home to a Stuart Anderson Cattle Co. restaurant and just north of where Affinity has been leasing space for about 20 years at 2730 Snelling Ave. The new building would double Affinity’s current Roseville office space, said Michael Kraft, project architect and a partner at HTG Architects in Minneapolis,

Nic Peterson, Affinity vice president of member innovation, talked about his company’s plans after the Roseville Planning Commission voted recommending the City Council grant  conditional use approval for Affinity to put in a drive-through, as part of the project. The City Council is expected on June 13 to consider Affinity’s request.

Peterson said Affinity needs larger quarters because “we serve a large population in Roseville. It is now time to provide a larger drive-through and a larger, upgraded facility.”

Kraft said Affinity’s need for more space in Roseville is borne of the credit union emphasizing face-to-face service for members rather than pushing them to do online or telephone banking. As a result, the credit union has built up a big base of loyal customers, he said.

Peterson agreed, contending, “It’s all about relationships, not transactions.”

St. Paul-based Affinity Credit Union has 25 branches across the state and about 135,000 members, Peterson said.
