Como Zoo To Dedicate Gorilla Forest Exhibit Thursday
All-mesh gorilla enclosure said to be largest of its kind in North America.

Como Park Zoo and Conservatory plans to dedicate its new Gorilla Forest exhibit on Thursday.
A short program and ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled to begin at 9:45 a.m.  Thursday ( June 6th) for the new $11 million exhibit at the zoo in neighboring St. Paul.Â
"This exhibit redesign and overhaul will feature seven gorillas, six of whom are new to Como Zoo, and the largest all-mesh gorilla enclosure in North America," Zoo officials said in press release.Â
They added, "The new space, which is almost three times larger than the previous exhibit, was designed to both enhance the public viewing experience and increase animal comfort. The gorillas are in a superior position, which minimizes stress on the gorillas while creating up-close and personal views."
In preparation for the dedication of Gorilla Forest, the Zoo will conduct a marketing campaign with a gorilla-suited Como representative handing out bananas in both downtown St. Paul and Minneapolis between 11a.m. and 1 p.m. Monday, June 3 through Wednesday, June 5.Â
