After holding a public open house last month on the project, the city staff said it is recommending several modifications to the original plans. Those include ecommending the construction of a right turn lane at the intersection of County Road C-2/ Hamline Avenue. Also, in a report on the project, city staff is recommending no parking be allowed on the north side of the street on the segment of County Road C-2 between Dunlap Avenue and Lexington Avenue. Parking would be allowed on the south side.
The revised cost estimate for the project is about $544,000 and would be paid for from Minnesota state aid funds, according to the staff report.

The city's plans to proceed with the project have come following a Council 3-2 vote in October that approved the project, bringing to a close years of debateabout the road being an east-west connection across the city. The proposal was initiated by residents, mostly on Josephine Road to the north, that felt they were experiencing a large traffic burden because C-2 was never completed. An equally vocal group opposed the connection, contending it would be disruptive to their neighborhood.
Meanwhile, in other action tonight (Monday), the Council is also expected to continue discussion on strategic planning for 2012 and hear a presentation from Roseville School District 623 Superintendent John Thein and School Board Chairwoman Kitty Gogins.
