Heat Puts Kibosh on NSSA Soccer Today

Heat index too high, official says,

With the heat index topping 105 degrees, the North Suburban Soccer Association has cancelled Monday night’s games and practices, an official with the group said.

As for the rest of the week, play will be determined on a “day by day basis,” said Keith Gephart, the association’s boys’ in-house director.

Gephart said the NSSA serves more than 1,000 kids and some 70 teams in the Roseville and Mounds View school districts.

He noted that while “we are running out on the (summer) season in a couple weeks,” the state youth soccer association has guidelines for when heat is too extreme to allow play.  That threshold is a heat index of about 105 degrees, he noted.
