Minnesota Supreme Court in Session--At Roseville High

The high court will hear argument in a real case as teachers, students look on.

The Minnesota State Supreme Court will be in session this morning (Monday)-at Roseville Area High School. 

The high court will hear oral arguments in Marshal Helmberger and Timberjay Newspapers, Respondents vs. Johnson Controls, Inc., Petitioner, Office of Administrative Hearings, respondent, Architectural resources, Inc., Petitioner (Case No. A12-0327).  The court will hear arguments beginning at 8:45 a.m. 

After the oral arguments, the justices will answer students’ questions, eat lunch with student leaders, and visit classrooms at the high school, said Lissa Finne, communications spokesperson for the court.

Rosevile High School will be the 37th recipient of a school visit by the Supreme Court since the justices launched their "Traveling Oral Argument" program in 1995, Finne said. 

Asked about public attendance at the hearing, Finne told Patch, " The attendance for this hearing, or any other, is defined by space and security issues.  The audience at Roseville Area High School will be made up of students, teachers, other staff, parties to the case, and media.

"The hearing nonetheless remains public.  The event will be streamed live via the Internet at http://www.isd623.org/623-cable/court-streaming.cfm.
