Highway 10/Ramsey County 96 Intersection Closing Moved Up to Saturday
MnDOT cites the threat of inclement weather for moving up the start of construction prep.

The District Office of the Minnesota Department of Transportation said today the agency is moving up closing the Highway10/Ramsey County Road 96 intersection to Saturday evening (April 20) for reconstruction and other work.
Agency officials cited the theat of inclement weather later this weekend for moving up the intersection closing to Saturday.Â
"Weather permitting, crews will begin moving barriers in to place early Saturday and the intersection will close by 6 p.m. that evening," MnDOT officials said. "The closure will allow crews to begin major reconstruction at Hwy 10 and Ramsey County Road 96. The closures are also needed to begin resurfacing of the Hwy 10 Diagonal between I-694 and I-35W."

As construction activity ramps up Monday morning, commuters should use an alternate route., MnDOT officials said. "During the construction season, traffic will detour on I-35W and I-694 to avoid the closure.

"The eastbound Highway 10 bridge over I-35W will remain open for local access from County Road H during the first part of the construction. However the ramp from southbound I-35W to Highway 10 will close.

"The westbound County Road 10 bridge will be open from northbound I-35W only during the 2013 construction season. Old Highway 10 (County Road 76) will close at the south junction with Lakeshore Place but local access will be maintained.
"Construction of a partial interchange and overpass at the current intersection of Highway 10 and Ramsey County Road 96 will carry County Road 96 traffic beneath Highway 10, and the traffic signal will be removed. The new interchange will not allow access between eastbound County Road 96 and Hwy 10 or from westbound County Road 96 to eastbound Hwy 10. In addition, westbound Hwy 10 will not be able to access County Road 96.
