Nearly 100 and Still Hitting The Links

Riding golf carts at Roseville's Cedarholm course a boon for seniors.

Thanks to the addition of riding carts this season at Roseville's municipal Cedarholm Golf Course, some older residents are getting back into the swing of the game, reports clubhouse manager Roxann Maxey.

One day last week, Maxey saw a "Battle of the Ages." She noted that a group ready to tee off at one hole thought it was pretty special to have an 89-year-old gentleman golfing with them. That was until they saw Bob Wussler,99, one hole ahead of them putting for a par.

Wussler, a 60-year resident of Roseville, shot a legitimate 45 that day, Maxey said.

"I challenged him (Wussler) that next year for his 100th year, I would like to see him play 100 rounds of golf," Maxey said. "He (Wussler) wasn’t sure if he could do that, but would be playing back at Cedarholm next season."
