Update: Schools Foundation Tops Fall Luncheon Fundraising Goal

Update (Saturday, Sept. 29): The Roseville Area Schools Foundation  has raised more than $32,000 from its annual fall luncheon fundraisr, board member Mary Heer-Forsberg said today. The Foundation had set $30,000 as fundraising goal from the its annual fall luncheon.

(Original post, Tuesday, Sept. 25) The Roseville Area Schools Foundation is planning to disburse nearly $50,000 in grants during 2012-13 school year for programs, services and equipment in the district, the group's board chairman Mark Traynor said today (Tuesday).

Traynor's comment came at the Foundation's seventh annual fall fundraising luncheon, which was held at Midland Hills Country Club in Roseville. Some 250 people from the Roseville community - including public officials, parents, district school employees and business people - attended the event. 

"The (fall) luncheon last year raised $25,000," Traynor said. "We hope to increase that to $30,000 this year."

Altogether, the Foundation is looking to fund $48,000 in school grants for the 2012-13 year, Traynor said.

During the 2011-12 school year, the Foundation awarded $46,133 for 21 grants. In previous years, Foundation grants have been awarded for, among other things, document cameras, physical education equipment for special needs students and the Restorative Justice program at Roseville Area High School, Traynor said.
