First Update (2:17 p.m. Tuesday):Â
The city of Roseville issued the following press statement about the departure of Manager Bill Malinen:
"Bill Malinen announced today that he will resign as Roseville’s City Manager effective May 14, 2013."Â
Mayor Dan Roe said, "The City Council appreciates the work that Bill has done for Roseville since 2007. In recent discussions between council members and Bill, it became clear that a change was in the best interests of both him and the city. It was a mutual and amicable decision."
"It has been a privilege to serve the City of Roseville and its residents these past 6 years" said Malinen, “I am proud of our many accomplishments and the opportunity to work with so many dedicated and outstanding employees and citizens."
The Council and Malinen reached an agreement on the terms for his separation with the City and that agreement was approved by the Council on Monday night. The agreement is aimed at meeting the obligations of the City Manager's contract for severance and insuring that all potential legal issues have been addressed.
In the coming days and weeks, the City Council will take actions to appoint an Interim City Manager and outline a search process for Malinen’s replacement.
