North Suburban Communications Commission Meeting Set Thursday

Update on franchise agreement among agenda items.

The North Suburban Communications Commission will meet Thursday evening at its Roseville headquarters to, among other things, elect officers and hear franchise renewal consultant reports.

Sue Buske, of The Buske Group, is expected to present a needs ascertainment report.

The NSCC meeting is scheduled to start at 7 p.m. at the offices of CTV North Suburbs, 2670 Arthur St., Roseville.

Immediately following the NSCC meeting, the North Suburban Access Corp. will hold its meeting at the same location. Its agenda also includes election of officers and various reports.

Last fall, the North Suburban Communications Commission conducted a community needs assessment for renewing its cable TV franchise with Comcast in 2013.

The needs assessment will help the commission determine what community programming and cable service obligations ought to be included in renewed franchise agreements between Comcast and NSCC.  

The commission hired Buske of The Buske Group to conduct the needs assessment process and prepare a report of the results, which will be presented at the NSCC meeting on Thursday, February 2.

The North Suburban Communications Commission serves the cities of Arden Hills Falcon Heights, Lauderdale, Little Canada, Mounds View New Brighton, North Oaks, Roseville, St. Anthony and Shoreview.
