Rosetown Playhouse Announces ‘The Music Man’ as 2023 Summer Show
Show Set for July 13-23 at Lake Como Pavilion; Auditions to Be Held April 24-26 for Meredith Willson Classic
Come July, you can bet there will be plenty Trouble – and singing, dancing, and comedic twists – right here in the Saintly City as Rosetown Playhouse presents Meredith Willson’s “The Music Man” on the outdoor stage at the historic Lake Como Pavilion, July 13-23.
The much-anticipated Rosetown summer show will feature a high-stepping, multi-generational cast presenting classic Broadway numbers such as “Seventy-Six Trombones,” “Marian the Librarian,” “The Wels Fargo Wagon,” “Pickalittle (Talk-a-Little),” and of course the show-stopping “(Ya Got) Trouble.”
First staged on Broadway in 1957, the show features original music and lyrics by Meredith Willson, and a story by Willson and Franklin Lacey. The play won numerous Tony awards in 1958, 2000, and 2022, and was a highly successful Rosetown Playhouse summer show in 2009. Margot Olsen will direct this year’s Rosetown Playhouse production.
Performances at the pavilion will be July 13-15, and July 21-22 at 7 p.m. nightly, and there will be 1 p.m. Sunday matinees on July 16 and July 23. Tickets will be available starting in June online at www.rosetownplayhouse.org/tickets, as well as at the door.
