Roseville City Council Preview Oct. 24
Council expected to consider ordinance on financing of fire station, park improvements.

The Roseville City Council will consider an ordinance tonight (Monday) that makes use of Port Authority powers to issue bonds to fund construction of a new fire station and pay for the first round of park improvement projects.
According to City Manager Bill Malinen, an $8 million bond for the fire station is expected to have an annual impact of approximately $36, or $3 per month for a typical home. The annual debt service would be approximately $735,000.
A $19 million (overall) bond for park improvements is expected to have an annual impact of approximately $70, or $6 per month for a typical home, he said in his report. The annual debt service would be approximately $1,430,000.
"When all impacts for the proposed initiatives are combined, it results in an estimated monthly impact for a typical home of approximately $24.66 per month," according to data from the city finance department. "This represents a 25 percent increase over 2011."

"While there is merit in many of the individual proposals currently before the Council, the total burden is a lot to ask of Roseville's property taxpayers at this time of stagnant wages, falling home prices, and economic uncertainty," Grefenberg, editor of SouthWest Area of Roseville Monitor (SWARM) said in a neighborhood email alert.
