Roseville Police Take 23-Year-Old Man in Custody After Standoff
Tear gas used, man allegedly threatened to kill himself.

After a nearly seven-hour standoff, Roseville Police successfully took a into custody a 23-year-old man who had allegedly threatened to kill himself.
Late Monday evening, the Roseville Police Department issued the following press statement about the incident:
"A 23-year old Roseville male was taken into police custody in the 300 block of County Road C2 at approximately 9:23 p.m. Monday after a 7-hour standoff with police.

The incident began at 2:43 p.m. when a friend of the 23-year old suspect contacted police to report the suspect had posted a message on Facebook stating he attempted to kill himself earlier in the day.
Roseville police were called to investigate and check the welfare of the man. When officers arrived at the address, they found the home secure with no one answering their knocks or announcements for the home’s occupant(s) to answer the door.

On scene officers were able to make contact with the subject’s mother who authorized officers to make entry into her home via a garage service door. Once inside, officers attempted to make contact with the subject in his bedroom but as officers entered, the subject was observed holding a pistol in his lap. Officers backed out of the home and requested the assistance of negotiators and East Metro SWAT.
Roseville officers secured the home’s perimeter and had residents in neighboring home’s shelter in place.
During the seven hour event, negotiators had occasional telephone and text messaging contacts with the suspect but he refused to surrender to authorities.
At 8:20 p.m. tear gas was deployed into the home. At 9:23 p.m. the 23-year old suspect was taken into police custody as he attempted to flee from the lower to upper level of the home.
At the time of his arrest, the suspect was suffering from tear gas inhalation and was transported by ambulance to Regions Hospital to be evaluated.
Roseville Police are continuing to investigate this incident and will be searching the home for additional evidence and weapons."
