Roseville Summer Concerts Begin This Week
Programs run the gamut -from acoustic and Big Band to rock 'n'' roll and hand bell choirs.

The city of Roseville’s annual "Summer Performance in The Park” concert series kicks off Thursday evening at the Frank Rog Amphitheater at Central Park, Lexington Avenue and County Road C.
The inaugural performance at 6:30 p.m. will feature the Roseville Area High School Choir and the North Suburban Senior Chorus. Altogether the city will host 32 free nights of concerts from now until the end of August.
Concerts will generally be held on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday evenings throughout the summer. The schedule can be found at the city of Rosville website.

Lonnie Brokke, Roseville parks and recreation director, said the city has held the summer concert series for more than 20 years.

“It started out as a day week and now it is three days a week,” he said of the summer concerts. “The idea is that there is a little bit of something that appeals to all generations and demographics."
Brokke said the summer concert series costs about $14,000 with about half of the money coming from general donations and sponsors. This year, Genisys Credit Union is a signature sponsor, he said.
Brokke added this summer’s concert lineup is based partly on prior year evaluations “and what people are interested in.” He described the concerts as a “good way to meet your neighbors and enjoy the outdoors.”
