Roseville Teen Wins Logo Contest for Naval Sub

Jakob Bartels, of Roseville, won a state-wide contest in designing a logo for a U.S. Navy submarine, the USS Minnesota, now under construction.

The announcement was made Friday afternoon by Navy officials in Minneapolis.

Bartels' logo was chosen from among 110 contestants from 31 colleges and high schools across the state, said Brian Skon, vice-president of the Navy League of the United States-Twin Cities Council.

Bartels, 17, is home schooled but plays sports for Mounds View High School, said Skon, logo contest chairman.
